Born in Orkney, Jade Stout is a painter whose work is inspired by Scotland’s dramatic landscapes, coastlines and ever-changing light. Growing up surrounded by Orkney’s vast skies, rugged cliffs, gentle sweeping bays and powerful seas instilled a lifelong connection to the natural world, and that influence continues to shape her work today.
Jade’s paintings explore colour, atmosphere and texture through layers of paint and expressive mark-making. Rather than simply recording a view, she aims to capture the emotion, energy and memory of a place - those fleeting moments when light, weather and landscape come together to create something unforgettable.
Working from sketches, photographs and personal experience, Jade develop each painting intuitively, allowing colour and texture to evolve throughout the process. Her hope is that each piece invites the viewer to pause, reflect and connect with the landscape through their own memories and experiences.
