What is an Events Volunteer?

Falkirk Leisure & Culture hosts a wide range of family fun events throughout the year, including Emergency Services Day, Outdoor Theatre, The Big Picnic, Falkirk Science Festival, Callendar Park Fireworks and Fire and Light. These events take place outside at Callendar, Muiravonside and The Helix Park!

Event Volunteers meet and greet the audience, sign post the audience, steward, help with tidying up at the end of the event, check tickets, and are the friendly face of the event. Duties will vary depending on the event, but the role is flexible and you can choose which events you would like to volunteer. Why not join our team – you will be supporting your community whilst having fun at the same time too!

What's involved?

You may be asked to do any of the following, depending on the requirements of the event:

Stewarding

• Advise/guide members of the public or event participants (e.g. pointing our hazards or highlighting the course for a sporting event)
• Advise on seating arrangements for the performance
• Hand out information leaflets

Meet and Greet

• Welcome guests to the event
• Direct participants and/or pedestrians
• Register participants into an activity
• Check/scan tickets
• Hand out equipment to participants where required for the event

Skills, Attitude, and Experience Required

• This opportunity would suit individuals who are outgoing, friendly, enthusiastic, professional, and confident
• No experience required!

Other important information

Location: Various across the Falkirk Council area

Time Commitment: Volunteering hours are flexible depending on the event. Volunteers must be able to commit to 2 events throughout the year.

Expenses: Volunteers will be reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses upon request and in line with the Volunteering Policy. Volunteers must present a receipt of travel (i.e. bus ticket).
