Originally graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone in 2020 with a degree in Printed Textiles BA (Hons), Matilda since returned to DJCAD in 2022 and completed an MFA in Drawing. Experimenting with a variety of mixed media techniques in collage, drawing and sculpture, her practice is influenced by ecological thinking surrounding our profound connection and relationship to Nature. Expanding upon a background in surface design into a contemporary art context, drawing remains a powerful tool to observe, explore and escape through a sense of place to both the artist and viewer. Mindfully gathering from local Coastline and woodland allows for both mindfulness and time to absorb the rich essence of these precious environments. This provides an abundance of colour, shape and texture emulated through Matilda’s landscape inspired works.
