Elaine Petrie trained in jewellery design in Milan and has worked as an artisan jeweller-designer for the last ten years. She takes inspiration from the legends and landscape of the Forth Valley, initially inspired by the hidden history of the Antonine Wall. It is famous as a wall but what we see now is the negative space that created it, the ditch. Working in various metals, she plays with shape, connections and textures, especially those that contrast with the cool hardness of the metal itself: fluid organic shapes suggested by the play of wind on water or sun on foliage.
