With the encouragement of my family, I returned to education and studied a foundation diploma in Art and Design at Falmouth University in 2006. I absolutely adored the course, and it was just what I needed to give my work direction. My final piece was a collection of vessels with embossed designs inspired by my life drawing classes, and my love of ceramics had begun.
Now, working from my garden studio, and taking inspiration from my countryside surroundings, I design and make wheel thrown porcelain and stoneware ceramics for everyday use. I use simplified stencils and wax to build up pattern and texture, adding rich glossy glazes to enhance these details.
The colours are drawn from my love of the Cornish Coast and the hedgerows I see around my home. I have been lucky enough to be invited to show my work in some beautiful galleries in Cornwall, Devon and as far as here in Scotland.
