Making Mischief at Blair Drummond Safari Park

Falkirk Community Trust Libraries have launched their Mischief Makers Summer Reading Challenge with the help of a few very special friends from Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park.

This year, when children finish Libraries’ Beano-themed Challenge they can claim a free entry to the Park. To celebrate, Libraries took along four very lucky pupils from Denny Primary to meet one of Blair Drummond’s newest residents. The youngsters read to 14-week-old European Eagle Owl, Benedict Cumberbatch, before heading to the giraffe enclosure to share stories with the Park’s tallest creatures.

The Tesco Bank Summer Reading Challenge Scotland runs in Libraries until Saturday August 18th 2018. In addition to free entry to Blair Drummond Safari Park, children who complete the Challenge also receive a medal, certificate and a free swim at either Bo’ness Recreation Centre, Grangemouth Sports Complex or the Mariner Centre.

Lynne James, Falkirk Community Trust (FCT) Development Librarian, said: “The Summer Reading Challenge is a great way to inspire reluctant readers and reward young book lovers. We’re thrilled that Blair Drummond Safari Park and FCT Sport have been able to offer these special rewards. We’re sure they’ll be a great incentive for families.”

There’s not only the Summer Reading Challenge to keep youngsters occupied this summer in libraries, there’s also a huge range of comic art workshops, craft sessions, gaming days and more.
