From 29th January, Falkirk Community Trust welcomes two new fantastic exhibitions to Callendar House – Stories of the Past and The Graphic Novel World of Metafrog, celebrating Scotland’s Year of Storytelling 2022.

The first new exhibition, called Stories of our Past, celebrates Falkirk’s history and residents gone by. Featuring items that are part of Callendar House’s museum collection and owned by Falkirk Council, each object has its own past and story to tell - some happy and some sad.

Highlights of the exhibition include the story of Saxon De Milo, a local strongman and also John Smith who was a master violin maker.  Find out who spent their entire wage on a handbag and matching snakeskin shoes, then who wore those evening gowns and where did they go in them.

The second new exhibition, The Graphic Novel World of Metafrog, is by award-winning artists and duo Sandra Marrs and John Chalmers, featuring their illustrations from comics and graphic novels. The illustrations include adaptations of poetry, fairy tales and comic book stories, making it a great day out for the whole family.  There are 55 pieces of original art, prints and artifacts on show, as well as artwork and prints for sale within Callendar House.  The exhibition runs until the 17th of April.

Both exhibitions within Callendar House are free to visit and are open every day except Tuesday, 10am – 4pm.
