Based in Fife, Jill Calder has been working as an illustrator since 1993. She is also a calligrapher and a digital artist with a love of drawing, and a passion for bright colour.
This exhibition gives you a glimpse into Jill’s world from her beginnings at art college in Cumbria in the late 1980s to her current collaboration with English Heritage.
On display you will see a wide selection of Jill's artwork from draft sketches through to published illustrations. Jill's love of ink shines through in this exhibition and examples of her designs include editorial commissions, gallery work and book art.
Introduced to the idea of illustrating picture books back in 2011, Jill has since immersed herself in the children's book world. This has created many opportunities for Jill including working with children in schools and libraries, both locally and internationally.
"...give me a dip pen, a stick or a fat brush plus a pot of black ink, and I'm happy to draw, draw, draw..." Jill Calder, 2022
