New library IT system and catalogue
Falkirk Libraries is getting a new computer system to manage our stock and memberships. It will be more efficient, easier for staff to use, and will include a new, improved library catalogue to give you more control over your account.
To prepare for this, we need to do some background work that will see some services briefly suspended.
Please be assured that the information we hold for you will not change and your library card number and PIN will not be affected, however there may be some differences in how we contact you.
No new books until January
No new books will arrive until January of 2023 as we’ve had to delay orders from our suppliers. You can still request new titles by asking at the library, but be aware that these will take longer than usual to come in.
New Library catalogue
Along with our new system, the library catalogue is moving.
With the new library catalogue you’ll have the same ability to request and renew items, but our new account interface makes your account (and any linked child account) easier to understand.
You’ll also be able to:
- Update your contact and other personal details
- Find recommendations of similar titles
- See recently returned titles
- Leave reviews of items you’ve borrowed
- Create lists of items you want to read - please note that we are unable to carry over lists from the old catalogue
- Add tags to items
If you’ve questions about any of this or need help using the new library catalogue, please email libraries@falkirk.gov.uk or ask at your local library.
