Turn it up! We're having a party to launch the Summer Reading Challenge! 

Read to the Beat, the national Summer Reading Challenge launches on Saturday 20th June.

What's happening?

All libraries will have drop in activities like a scavenger hunt, board games, crafts, paper puzzles and more. Head to the sign up desk to register for the Challenge. Some libraries have a few extra special activities happening:

Bonnybridge Library

Features music from local accordionist Blair at 1pm and  LEGO club at 10.30am

Denny Library

Pirate-themed Bookbug sessions at 11am with Captain Malcolm and his guitar. Book a spot.

Denny's Knit and Natter group will be with us at 1pm. Come along to find out more about the group and have a got at knitting or crochet.

Falkirk Library

You'll find dress up, Bookbug, drop in crafts, games and more all day in the junior area and upstairs our open mic session starts at 11.45am.

Meadowbank Library

Drop in activities and a special drop-in storytime at 10.30am.

Read to the Beat Summer Reading Challenge

Our musical themed summer reading challenge is the perfect way to switch off from school and get those summer vibes going!

In 2026 we invite you to #GoAllIn for the National Year of Reading. Reading a book can make you laugh, cry,  and take you somewhere totally different. You can explore your hobbies, travel to new places, and find out what it's like to be someone else for a while! 

When you take part in the Challenge you'll get stickers, an exclusive poster and other goodies as you read your way through 6 books over 3 visits to the library. Complete the challenge and you'll get a medal, certificate and free entry to Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park!

Register at any library in the Falkirk area from Saturday 20th June.
