Are you curious about exploring things at the microscopic level? Do you love taking snaps on your phone camera? Join us for an interactive workshop that blends the two. With a guest researcher from Heriot-Watt University, we'll be attaching magnifying devices to your phone for a smartphone microscopy workshop. Through magnification, you'll be able to explore objects at the micro-scale and see things in exciting new ways!

Dr. Jessica Valli is the Imaging Technology Manager at the ESRIC facility at HWU. Jessica trains and assists researchers in using advanced super-resolution microscopy techniques. These techniques are used for imaging everything from brains to viruses.

The session is aimed at children aged 8 years old and upwards, and parents/carers are encouraged to join in and get creative too!

Borrow A Researcher is an event series generated from the Engaging Libraries Lothian Lugs project, in collaboration with Heriot Watt University. We are delighted Heriot Watt University have continued the Borrow A Researcher event series as part of Falkirk Science Festival, designed to share research across schools, libraries, education centres and much more! It is a programme that allows us to ‘borrow' a researcher for a session.
