Muiravonside is Falkirk's only Country Park, providing 170 acres of stunning woodland and parkland, a mini demonstration farm, a sculpture trail and a children's play area.
The River Avon trail runs through the site, and the John Muir Way passes close by too, offering lots of opportunities for exploring the local area. The John Muir Way can be accessed by following the wooden stairs from the river path up to the top of the impressive Avon aqueduct.
The Sculpture and Poetry trail added to the park in 2016 can be enjoyed by heading through the archway beside the main car park and then following the 'art in the park' way markers and map boards.
The park also has a great play area and two adventure trails featuring chunky wooden play equipment.
We have a wide range of animals at the farm to visit, these include:
o Highland cattle - Kyla, Haggis, Beth, Mona, and Caity
o Equine 'staff' - Charley and Jake the Clydesdale horses; the Shetland ponies - Robbie (a rescued Shetland pony we rehomed from the SSPCA), Teddy and Eddie
o Several pigs – we have Wessex and Gloucester Old Spot breeds
o Mixed flock of rare breed sheep, including Hebridean, Valais Blacknose, Boreray and North Ronaldsay
o A collection of different breeds of goats
o Alpacas – Whistler, Chipper, Twister and 7up
o Our red deer Gertrude
o Amazon parrots - Chico and Del
The restored farm steading buildings house an assortment of smaller animals including rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets and exotic birds, whilst the nearby wildfowl pond and bird enclosures contain flocks of larger birds like chickens, geese and ducks.
Newparks Farm is home to a wide collection of animals and as you can imagine a lot of food, care and attention is required to keep them healthy and safe. Your support can help us cover the costs of upkeep and allow us to provide the best care possible for the animals.

We currently have opportunities for volunteers at Muiravonside!
We run a regular conservation volunteering programme which you can join at any time. Sessions take place on Wednesdays from 10am-2pm, and we do a variety of tasks to take care of the country park and it’s wildlife and habitats, including path clearance, willow coppicing, litter picking, wildflower seeding, painting fences, weeding, wildlife surveys and pruning in our community orchard. We welcome everyone and you don't need any special skills, just enthusiasm, sensible outdoor clothing and an interest in improving the park.
We also have opportunities to help out with our varied country park events programme
Please contact the Countryside Ranger to register your interest in country park or events volunteering – Claire.Martin@falkirk.gov.uk
We also have volunteers at our farm who assist with the day-to-day care of our animals. If you’re interested in farm volunteering or a work experience placement at the farm, please contact Donna - donna.kisielewski@falkirk.gov.uk
