What is the fund?
The Summer of Sport Project Grant supports local sports clubs and organisations across the Falkirk Council area to deliver impactful, project-based initiatives that expand and strengthen opportunities for children and young people aged 3–26.
Focused on longer-term development, this funding enables clubs to design and deliver projects that:
Increase access to sport and physical activity, particularly for underrepresented or targeted groups.
Develop and upskill coaches, volunteers, and young leaders.
Create sustainable pathways that support continued participation beyond the initial project.
Build club capacity and resilience for lasting community impact
The scheme encourages clubs to think strategically about how their projects can leave a lasting legacy, helping more young people to engage in sport and remain active within their local community over the long term.

Who can apply?
You can apply if you are a:
Local sport club in the Falkirk Council area.
Community sport organisation in the Falkirk Council area,
Charity or other constituted third‑sector / voluntary group in the Falkirk Council area.
To apply, you must:
Deliver sporting activity locally within the Falkirk Council area.
Have a constitution or governing document.
Have safeguarding and child protection policies.
Ensure staff and volunteers working with children are PVG / disclosure checked.
Who should the activity support?
Activities should be open to all children and young people, and align with one or more of the criteria areas below:
Funded projects should be designed to benefit children and young people aged 3–26, and align with one or more of the priority areas below:
Increased Opportunities: Develop and deliver sustainable projects that create safe, welcoming, and inclusive opportunities, reducing barriers to participation and widening access to sport and physical activity. With a focus on subsidised opportunities for new participants & members.
Pathways: Establish and strengthen clear participation pathways, supporting young people to progress from initial engagement in school-based activity into sustained club and community sport.
Enhancement: Build upon and enhance existing provision, creating additional capacity and long-term impact. Projects should complement current activity and avoid duplication.
Targeted Design: strategic, targeted projects that address identified gaps in provision, with a clear focus on engaging underrepresented groups and supporting ongoing participation beyond the funded period.
Applicants should explain how they will reach and support one or more of the criteria areas.
What can the grant be used for?
Grants of up to £5,000 can support:
Free school sessions and/or subsidised community sports sessions
Equipment or kit to reduce cost barriers
Facility hire linked to Large Grant Project delivery
Coaching or sessional staff costs
Volunteer expenses or training
What are we looking for?
Applications should show:
A clear link to Summer of Sport Criteria.
Clear links and evidence the project targets: Increased Opportunities, Pathway Development, Enhancement & Targeted Delivery.
A detailed and realistic delivery plan with clear costings.
Good use of a large grant to create meaningful local impact.
Sustainability beyond the initial period of funding.
What will not be Funded
Fully fee‑paying activities with no free or reduced‑cost places
General club running costs not linked to the activity
Large capital or building projects
Application and reporting
One application per organisation.
Applications assessed at initial deadline of w/b 27th July. Further applications are reviewed weekly on a rolling basis until the fund is fully allocated or until the 14th August when the fund closes.
Successful organisations will complete an impact report for this grant, prior to April 2027. Detailing areas but not limited to:
Number of sessions delivered
Number of participants (including priority groups)
Groups targeted
Number of coaches recruited and existing coach development impact
