What is the fund?
The Summer of Sport Micro Grant Fund supports local sports clubs to deliver free, targeted or low-cost sport and physical activity opportunities for children and young people aged 3–26 within the Falkirk Council area.
The fund is designed to be simple and light‑touch, helping clubs remove financial and practical barriers to participation and support young people to move from summer activity into ongoing club and community sport.
This fund aligns with the national Summer of Sport 2026 programme & it’s objectives. Summer of Sport - sportscotland the national agency for sport in Scotland.
Who can apply?
You can apply if you are a:
Local sport club in the Falkirk Council area.
Community sport organisation in the Falkirk Council area,
Charity or other constituted third‑sector / voluntary group in the Falkirk Council area.
To apply, you must:
Deliver sporting activity locally within the Falkirk Council area.
Have a constitution or governing document.
Have safeguarding and child protection policies.
Ensure staff and volunteers working with children are PVG / disclosure checked.
Who should the activity support?
Activities should be open to all children and young people, and align with one or more of the criteria areas below:
Increased Opportunities: Deliver a range of safe, welcoming and inclusive opportunities that reduce barriers to participation.
Pathways: Provide accessible pathways from short term activity into sustained participation in school, club and community sport.
Enhancement: Build on existing provision, particularly during the summer period and beyond, avoiding duplication and strengthening what already exists.
Targeted: Introduce targeted initiatives where gaps exist, with a focus on long term engagement beyond the funding period.
Applicants should explain how they will reach and support one or more of the criteria areas.
What can the grant be used for?
Grants of up to £500 can support:
Free or subsidised summer sports sessions, camps, festivals or taster activities
Equipment or kit to reduce cost barriers
Facility hire linked to Summer of Sport activities
Transport costs to help participants attend
Coaching or sessional staff costs
Volunteer expenses or training
Activities that support transition into ongoing club participation
What are we looking for?
Applications should show:
A clear link to Summer of Sport Criteria.
How barriers to participation will be reduced.
A simple, realistic delivery plan with clear costings.
Good use of a small grant to create meaningful local impact
What will not be Funded
Fully fee‑paying activities with no free or reduced‑cost places
General club running costs not linked to the activity
Large capital or building projects
Application and reporting
One application per organisation.
Applications assessed at initial deadline of 5th June. Further applications are reviewed weekly on a rolling basis until the fund is fully allocated or until the 30th June when fund closes.
Successful organisations will complete a short, light‑touch monitoring return, including:
Number of sessions delivered
Number of participants (including priority groups)
