Double Exhibition Launch at Callendar House - Opening 2nd May 2026
There are two new exhibitions opening at Callendar House this May, offering visitors the chance to explore both Falkirk’s natural landscape and its industrial heritage through art and photography.
A Walk in the Park by Joy Bain
On display in the Park Gallery in Callendar House, this exhibition features screen prints and oil paintings inspired by Callendar Park, celebrating its wildlife and the role nature plays in supporting wellbeing. Drawing on personal childhood memories of growing up in Falkirk, Joy’s vibrant work offers an imaginative and uplifting view of much-loved local space. Through colour and familiar scenes, the exhibition invites visitors to pause, reflect and reconnect with the calming presence of nature.
Iron and Clay by Tom Astbury
Also, on display this summer in the 2nd Floor Galleries, this exhibition features photographs taken by Tom Astbury between 1979 and 1983 during his time as photographer for Falkirk Council Museums Service. The images document local foundries and brickworks at a time when traditional industries were in decline, capturing both workplaces and the people who worked in them. The photographs are preserved within Falkirk Archives and provide a powerful record of Falkirk’s industrial past.
Both exhibitions are free to enter and run from 2nd May – 16th August 2026. Callendar House is open daily from 10am – 5pm (4:30pm last entry) and is closed on Tuesdays.
