Frequently asked questions

Q: Why have you changed your opening hours?

A: In May 2023 Council Executive approved a five-year strategic plan from Falkirk Libraries to redesign the Library Service and implement new opening hours to best suit community needs while delivering agreed efficiencies. The plan was informed by wide stakeholder engagement to set the strategic direction and make sure the revised opening hours best suited communities.

Q: I go to a group or club that meets in the library on the closed day. Will this club continue?

A: Library clubs and groups will be rescheduled to a different day. Please ask at the library, refer to library posters or see our Groups and Events page.

Q: I have booked a library room or space on a Wednesday? What will happen to my booking?

A: We can still accommodate paid community bookings in libraries on Wednesdays, however the library will not be open on these days. Please speak with our room bookings team by emailing or calling 01324 506800.

Prices will remain the same for the near future, however we review our fees and charges annually.

Q: I have a booked a library room or space on an evening when the library will be closed. What will happen to my booking?

A: Please get in touch with us to discuss your booking by emailing or calling 01324 506800. In the immediate future we will not be taking bookings on the evenings where we are not open, on Saturdays after 3pm or on Sundays.

Q: I would like to complain about the change to library opening hours. How do I do this?

Please visit the complaints portal on the Falkirk Council website.
