Closure of Grangemouth Sports Centre Creche
Following the investment in the Mariner Centre Health & Fitness offer and the success of the immersive cycle studio we have been exploring options to improve Health & Fitness facilities in Grangemouth Sports Complex. Following the pandemic, the gym has moved into its permanent home in sports hall 1, creating a more customer friendly environment with the equipment located in one spacious area rather than being split across three separate rooms. This move has been well received by our customers with the next stage of development for the venue being to introduce an immersive cycle studio, similar to the facility at the Mariner Centre.
The new cycle studio will require a change to the internal spaces within the building and this has required a review of the existing building layout. Having completed this review, the children’s crèche located close to the new studio was considered for re-location within the building. Upon evaluating the crèche provision, however, it was determined that the very low levels of usage did not justify the required investment to relocate the crèche to another area within the building.
With the increase in Early Years provision across the region, the demand for the crèche has become limited to a very small number of customers. We appreciate the crèche facility allows this small group to participate in exercise and the associated benefits for their wellbeing, however with such limited demand and the crèche operating at a financial loss over several years, we cannot justify the investment to relocate the crèche and associated facilities required to operate this service. As a result of this decision, the crèche will permanently close on Friday 16 December (last day of opening) ahead of building works for the new cycle studio starting in early 2023.
The crèche at Grangemouth Sports Complex is continuing to operate as normal in the meantime, and we thank all our customers for their support.
