Cinema Recovery and Resilience Fund
Falkirk Community Trust is delighted to announce that the Hippodrome Cinema has received a total of £51,552 from the open call for applications to the Screen Scotland Independent Cinema Recovery and Resilience Fund.
The Independent Cinema Recovery and Resilience Fund aims to bridge the significant immediate financial gap faced by independently owned cinemas during reopening and operation in the short-term.
The fund is designed to support independently owned cinemas that cannot yet re-open due to the ongoing impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and with the Hippodrome remaining closed with no date yet set for reopening this is a vital lifeline.
Lesley O’Hare, Culture & Libraries Manager said, “We are delighted to have received this award. It will provide much need support over the coming months as we work towards re-opening the Hippodrome. We are very much looking forward to welcoming audiences back to the cinema experience when it is safe and we are permitted to do so.”
Located in the heart of Bo’ness, prior to closure in March this beautiful cinema screened a year-round programme of the best new, recent and vintage cinema releases plus live and encore shows from the National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company and the Met.
