Short Story Competition
The Great Place Falkirk is inviting you to take part to the most exciting competition of the 2021! Can you tell a captivating story in 500 words?
Share with us a short story inspired by the people, history and landscape of the Falkirk area, and win amazing prizes! The stories can be of any genre and can be based on your own experiences of the area, or be completely imaginary, it is entirely up to you!
You can join one of our two categories: Teenagers (12-17), or Adults (18+). Our Judges will choose a winner from each category. The deadline for submissions is on the 31/01/2021.
Prizes for both categories:
- £20 book voucher
- A 6-week Creative Writing Course of the winner's choice, provided by Creative Writing Ink (worth £140)
- Publication of the winning stories at the Firewords magazine
Competition rules:
- Maximum 500 words
- Must include a Falkirk landmark/description of the Falkirk landscape/a Falkirk anecdote
- Only one entry per person
Judging panel:
The judging panel consists of the acclaimed Falkirk writers Helen MacKinven and Samantha Young; Craig Allan, Editor of the [UNTITLED] magazine, and members of the Firewords magazine team.
Stories will be judged anonymously, without regard to grammar, punctuation or spelling.
