BBC Radio 4’s ‘Any Questions?’ panel to face Falkirk locals as show comes to the Falkirk Wheel
BBC Radio 4 show ‘Any Questions?’ is to be broadcast live from The Falkirk Wheel on Friday 8th November 2019. The show, which offers local people a chance to ask questions and influence debate, will follow the 8pm news and be repeated on Saturday 9th at 1.10pm. Listeners will also have a chance to join in the debate during the Saturday ‘Any Answers?’ phone-in at 2pm.
Scottish Canals is promoting the event and encouraging local people to sign up for their free ticket.
Catherine Topley, Chief Executive at Scottish Canals, said:
‘We’re so excited to be bringing this cultural touchstone to The Falkirk Wheel, the world’s first and only rotating boat lift. Since 1948, this BBC broadcast has offered the public an opportunity to have their say on the issues of the day, and we’re confident that the local community in Falkirk will have a lot to contribute.
‘As audience members submit their questions on the day, there’s plenty of time to mull over which hot-topic you’d like to see addressed by the panel, and heard by the 1.5 million listeners at home. We’d encourage the people of Falkirk to sign up and secure their place soon!’
The Falkirk Wheel attracts over 500,000 visitors each year, making it one of Scotland’s top tourist attractions.
Ross McMillan, Destination Manager at The Falkirk Wheel, added:
‘The Any Questions? broadcast offers a real opportunity to shine a spotlight on this innovative structure, which has welcomed over 5.5million visitors since it was opened in 2002. As the custodians of The Falkirk Wheel, the beloved Kelpies and Scotland’s vast network of inland waterways, Scottish Canals is proud to be working with the BBC to bring culture, politics and Scotland’s national heritage together in such a creative way’.
