Summer Reading Challenge 2022 - ENDS SAT 20 AUG!
The Summer Reading Challenge is back for 2022. We're going on an adventure with the Gadgeteers! You can register at your local library from Saturday 18th June.
The Summer Reading Challenge encourages youngsters to keep reading when school's out.
Children read at least six books over the holidays. They collect a poster pack after they've read their first books, and stickers and other rewards as they go. When they complete the challenge they'll claim a medal and get free entry to Blair Drummond Safari Park!
How the Challenge works
- Read at least six books over at least 3 visits to the library
- Read any type of book - chapter books, graphic novels, factual books, joke books...
- Collect a poster pack when the first books have been read and complete it with the stickers you receive when you finish every second book
- Show your completed Gadgeteers poster pack at the Blair Drummond gate to claim one free child entry (this also needs a validating stamp from your library)
Who can take part?
The Summer Reading Challenge is for primary age children, or anyone who is starting school after the summer. S1 pupils can participate too.
Children under 4 can take part in the Bookbug Library Challenge, all year round, where there are lovely certificates to collect. There are also limited quantities of the Summer Reading Mini Challenge, for under 4s, while stocks last.
When does The Challenge begin?
You can register at your local library from Saturday 18th June. You have until Saturday August 20th to complete. We recommend you register by the start of August to allow time to finish.
The Summer Reading Challenge is available only while library stocks last. We have a limited number of packs, which are available on a first-come-first-served basis. The Summer Reading Challenge can only be completed once by each child.
Play Hide-And-Seek with the Gadgeteers!
The Gadgeteers are hiding around the library - can you find them all? Look for the QR codes on each Gadgeteer and scan them for an animated surprise! You can try this treasure hunt whenever you're at the library.
