Story Garden Summer Reading Challenge Scotland 2025 Terms and conditions
Story Garden Summer Reading Challenge dates
The Falkirk Council Libraries' Story Garden Summer Reading Challenge 2025 runs from Saturday 21 June to Saturday 16 August 2025.
The Summer Reading Challenge is only available while stocks last. A limited number of resources are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Please join early to avoid disappointment.
Please allow time to complete the challenge. We encourage signing up for the Challenge by Saturday 2 August 2025 to allow time to finish.
The Challenge must be completed over at least three visits to the library. Staff are unable to give out all rewards at the same time, regardless of whether six books have been read.
Eligibility
The Challenge is open to children in primary school, S1, or those starting school after the summer holidays.
There is a Mini Challenge for children under 4. Please see details below.
Children should live in the Falkirk area or be visiting the Falkirk area for the summer.
The Challenge and its prizes can only be given out once per child across all Falkirk Libraries.
Books permitted in the Challenge
Children may read whatever they enjoy, but the books read during the Challenge must have been borrowed from a library in the Falkirk Council area.
Books and audiobooks that have been read on Falkirk Libraries’ Libby or ULibrary apps are also permitted.
Please show the app’s timeline screen to staff so the books read can be confirmed.
Library membership
Membership is required as reading material must be checked out from the library.
Ideally the young person taking part should be a member, but a parent/guardian who is a member may borrow items on their behalf. Library membership is free and can be applied for when signing up for the Summer Reading Challenge.
Please ask at the library or see the joining information on our website.
