Lorna Johnson - Acorn Print
Lorna is a Printmaker located in Edinburgh and the creator of Acorn Print Studio. She creates hand printed Lino prints and illustrations which interweave storytelling and symbolic imagery of lore. Lorna is inspired by folk lore, mythology, plant lore, the changing seasons and pagan symbolism.
Originally a graduate in 2010 from Norwich School of Art, she has continued to carve a path in the printing world by exploring creative and educational printmaking residencies in Mexico, exhibitions and hosting creative workshops. Processes have always played an important role in her creative development and this is reflected in her first love for traditional methods of Etching and Lithography in printmaking, currently she is mostly working with Lino carvings.
Exploring connections between the natural world and art has always been an influential and exciting combination for Lorna, particularly earth sciences. This area of interest has been nurtured through her experiences volunteering through farming projects such as Work Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms and expresses itself in topics of nature in her prints and illustrations.
