We are delighted to be bringing back Falkirk Science Festival in 2022. THis year we are bringing back our science engagement days and we are keeping some online sessions too. Some activities are pre-book but some are also drop in so please read the event information carefully.
Please see below some frequently asked questions and answers about your workshop.
I can no longer attend the workshop I booked, do I need to let anyone know?
Yes. If you can no longer attend the workshop, please let us know ASAP by contacting: email@example.com or call 01324 506850. Spaces are very limited and we want to make sure that every space is taken. We are operating a waiting list and will contact the next in the queue.
Is my workshop online or on the park?
The website and your email confirmation will clearly state whether your workshop is online or outdoors. Please read the website information carefully.
Are the workshops suitable for children?
Yes, the workshops are suitable for children. Each workshops will state the suitable age range on the website
What time does workshop finish?
The length of each workshop varies, but the website will tell you the start time and duration of the workshop. Please also check your email confirmation for this information.
Does an adult need to attend the workshop?
Yes. A responsible guardian must be present throughout the workshop, for both online and outdoors.
The workshops is full, can I join a waiting list?

How can I get more involved?

What platform is the online workshop delivered on?
The online workshops will be delivered on MS Teams and you will be sent a link and access code to the workshop 2 days before the workshop begins.
Do I need to install a programme to attend the online workshop?
No. You can access the MS Teams workshop from a web browser.
How do I access the online workshop?
A couple of days before your online workshop session we will send out a unique access code. Pleased check your spam folder. If you have not received your access code please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01324 506850.
Do I need equipment for online workshops?
You will require some equipment to participate in the online workshop activities.
Some workshops require the use some basic household items and these will be listed as a ‘kit list’ on the website.
Before signing up to the online workshop, please read the information carefully.
Does an adult need to supervise an online workshops?
Yes. We ask that an adult is present for the online workshop to support their child with the activities.
Is my child old enough to participate in an online workshop?
Each workshop will specify what is the suitable age range to participate. If you have children of multiple ages, children outside this age range can participate but it maybe too complicated and they will need supervision.
Are pets allowed to outdoor workshop?
Pets are welcome on the parks at drop-in event and workshop. They must be kept on a lead and must be well behaved. Pets will not be allowed in the science shows.
Can I bring an assistance dog with me?
Yes, guide dogs for the blind, hearing dogs for the deaf and assistance dogs are all permitted.
Do you allow babies in pushchairs?
Yes we do. The park is fully accessible for pushchairs, although the workshops take place on the grass. Please read carefully the suitable age for each workshop. Families with children of multiple ages are welcome.
Will there be food available?
Yes, there are food kiosks on the park.
What should I wear?
The weather is always changing in Scotland, so be prepared! Bring sunscreen if its hot, layers in case it cools down and don’t forget your waterproof jacket in case it rains!
Are there toilets available?
Yes, there are toilets and disabled toilets in all parks and these are clearly signposted. There are also a changing places toilet in the large car park at The Helix Park.
Where should I park?
There is parking available at all parks. For the Helix Park: On the park (£2) Falkirk Stadium (free). For Callendar Park: Estate Avenue (free), and Muiravonside Park: Main car park on entrance (£1)
Do you take credit/debit cards?
The vendors onsite do take cards. However sometimes it can be helpful to have cash in case the card machine does not work.
How much does a workshop cost?
The workshops are FREE thanks to Scottish Government Science Festival funding.
Can I collect tickets from the box office?
No, there is no collect at box office for outdoor workshops. You will receive your ticket via email, all tickets will be scanned, and customers must have a e-ticket with a unique bar code. Valid tickets will be accepted in all formats, whether printed or on mobile phone.
I have not received my email confirmation, is this normal?
No, if you haven't received an email confirming your ticket purchase, please send us details of your booking and when you booked your tickets. Please email email@example.com or call 01324 506850.
Will my tickets be posted out to me?
No, for outdoor workshops your tickets will be an e-ticket. The unique bar code on your e-ticket can be read on your smart phone or you can print it out and bring it with you. If you cannot find your e-ticket please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01324 506850.
For online workshops we will email you a unique code and link to the workshop 2 days in advance of the workshop.
Why do I need to buy a ticket in advance?
To ensure that you have a space at the desired workshop. We will fill any ‘no shows’ but we cannot guarantee a space.
What time should we arrive?
Please arrive no more than 10 minutes before your workshop start time.
Is there a waiting list for workshops if they sell out?
Yes, we are operating a waiting list. If tickets become available you will be contacted via telephone.
Is it suitable for people with additional needs?
We try to make our workshops as accessible as possible. If you have an additional needs please contact email@example.com to find out if the workshop is suitable.
Are there disabled toilets on site?
Yes, there are disabled toilets available on Callendar, Muiravonside and Helix Park. Changing places toilets are only available at Helix Park, in the large car park.
I am a blue badge holder, where can I park?
Helix Park blue badge parking is available at Falkirk Stadium and the small carpark. Please do not park at the Visitor Centre as this is the furthest distance from the workshop locations.
Callendar Park blue badge parking is available at Estate Avenue carpark and in the Woodland carpark.
Muiravonside blue badge parking is available at the café.
Can I bring a pushchair or wheelchair?
Not all the workshops are accessible, please contact to find out about access by emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01324 506850.
We have baby changing, disabled facilities o the parks. There is a changing places toilets at Helix park only too.
Do you have wheelchairs or mobility scooters on site for public use?
No we do not, so you will need to provide your own mobility aids. Most areas of our parks are fully accessible but please double check where the workshop is being held before booking by emailing: email@example.com or call 01324 506850.
What will happen if the weather is very bad?
The workshop and drop-in event will only be cancelled if the weather in Falkirk is perceived to be a danger to the public (e.g. extremely high winds).
The workshop will not be cancelled in the following circumstances:
- Heavy rain in Falkirk - we advise that all visitors dress appropriately for the weather
- Heavy rain in other areas of Scotland - we advise our visitors to take note of the weather conditions on route to the event and allow ample time for their journey.
- Very Cold Weather - we advise that our visitors dress warmly and appropriately for cold weather
- The decision to cancel will be made at 8am on the day of the workshop. Shortly after which we will endeavour to contact you either by e-mail or by text and a notice will be posted on the front page of our website and social media sites.
- You should check the web site and social media from 9am of the workshop day.
If the workshop or event is cancelled, will it be rescheduled?
We will work with all workshop and content providers to see if rescheduling is possible. If you have booked in for a workshop, we will contact you directly via email to let you know what will happen. Please keep an eye on our social media about any updates on rescheduled events.
Is photography allowed?
Please do not take pictures during the workshop.
Can I bring my drone to the event?
No. Use of a drone on the site or within a 150 metre radius of the workshop, contravenes aviation safety legislation and, to ensure the safety of the general public, we reserve the right to call the police to intervene.
